Merchandise Planner (100% Work from Home)

Last Updated on Aug. 11, 2026 by Luigi Armand.

WE'RE HIRING: Merchandise Planner (Full-Time, 100% Work from Home, Experienced, Individual Contributor)

Important: Who We’re Looking For

We are only considering proven merchandise planning or inventory planning professionals who can show real results from their previous work.

You should be able to explain specific examples of how you:

  • Reduced old or slow-moving inventory
  • Prevented overstock and stockouts
  • Improved buying or replenishment decisions
  • Protected profit margins while clearing aging stock

Your results must be verifiable through previous managers, supervisors, or professional references.

Applicants without relevant experience, measurable results, or references who can verify their performance will not be considered.

We are not looking for someone who wants to learn merchandise planning for the first time. We are looking for someone who has already done it successfully and can do it again.

-----

Position Objective: Make sure we buy the right items, keep bestsellers in stock, and slowly sell old inventory without relying on heavy discounts.

Your job is to use sales and inventory data to help answer:

  • What should we buy more of?
  • What should we stop buying?
  • What is becoming overstocked?
  • What bestsellers are about to run out?
  • Which old items need a promo or markdown?
  • How much should we markdown without hurting profit too much?

What We Offer:

  • 100% Permanent Work from Home
  • FREE Sneakers Every Year (Up to worth 15K)
  • We are one of the top sneaker resellers in the Philippines

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in merchandise planning, inventory analysis, or retail analytics
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, etc.)

Tasks/Responsibilities:

1. Recommend What to Buy

Review sales regularly and recommend which products, colors, and sizes we should reorder.

Example:

“Cloud 6 Black sells quickly and only has 3 weeks of stock left. Recommend ordering 30 more pairs.”

2. Prevent Overstock

Spot items where we already have too much stock and recommend that we stop or reduce buying them.

Example:

“We have 6 months of stock for this color. Do not reorder yet.”

3. Prevent Understock

Make sure our bestsellers do not keep running out.

Flag important products early so we can reorder before stock becomes too low.

4. Manage Old Inventory

Review old and slow-moving items every month.

Recommend ways to sell them before immediately lowering the price.

This can include:

  • Promoting the item more
  • Bundling it with another product
  • Giving a freebie
  • Featuring it to the right customers
  • Small markdowns when necessary

Discounting should not be the first solution.

5. Recommend Markdowns

When an item really needs a markdown, recommend:

  • Which item
  • Why it needs a markdown
  • How much the markdown should be
  • How long the promo should run

Afterward, check if the markdown actually helped sales.

6. Track Inventory Health

Maintain a simple report showing:

  • Bestsellers
  • Slow sellers
  • Old inventory
  • Overstocked items
  • Low-stock items
  • Items that need reordering
  • Items recommended for markdown

Expected Outcomes/Targets:

  • Reduce old inventory by at least 10% per month
Help sell aging stock steadily without relying on excessive discounts.
  • Keep bestsellers in stock at least 95% of the time
Identify fast-selling items early and recommend reorders before they run out.
  • Keep overstocked items below 10% of active inventory
Avoid recommending purchases when we already have too much stock.
  • Use markdowns only when necessary
Recommend the smallest discount needed to improve sell-through while protecting profit margins.
  • Track the results of every major markdown or promotion
Check whether the action actually improved sales and use the results to make better decisions next time.
  • Provide regular buying recommendations based on sales data
Clearly identify which items to reorder, reduce, stop buying, or watch before each purchasing cycle.
  • Review 100% of aging inventory every month
Every old or slow-moving item should have a clear recommendation: keep selling normally, promote, bundle, markdown, or stop buying.
